Faith and Financial Assistance How MISF Need-Based Scholarships Are Opening Doors to a Quality Education Saint Agnes High School sits hidden amidst the small innter-city neighborhood of Frogtown in St Paul, Minn. For nearly 70 years, the school has educated students from all over the Twin Cities and from a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic groups. In the spring of 2007, however, its legacy nearly ended. The school was facing a projected drop in enrollment and struggling with long-standing debts. It needed to find new students or new funding to prevent closure. Thanks to the faith and commitment of its students, families, and staff, along with Minnesota's strong philanthropic community, Saint Agnes was saved. The school was able to enroll 67 new students and raise $3.3 million dollars, allowing it to keep its doors open. Saint Agnes is now at a place Fr. John Uble, superintendent, calls, "...beautiful and lasting." The words "beautiful and lasting" not only describe the future of Saint Agnes, they aptly describe Delina Brown-Jackson, one of the nearly 200 students who walk the halls of the high school. Delina (pronounced Da'-leena) is a mature, intelligent young woman with a radiant smile. Although quiet and calm, she is full of youthful energy and dreams for her future.
